Executive Director

About the role

The Executive Director will lead Lawyers for the Creative Arts (LCA), a well‑established nonprofit that provides pro bono legal services and educational programs to artists and arts organizations. Based in Chicago with a hybrid work model, the role combines strategic leadership, program oversight, and crisis response to sustain and expand LCA’s impact.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall strategic direction and day‑to‑day leadership for LCA’s legal services, LawSmarts seminars, and new programming.
• Develop and implement effective responses to crises and emerging challenges such as public health emergencies, technological changes, and regulatory pressures.
• Strengthen and expand partnerships with legal, arts, and government organizations, including the Chicago Bar Foundation, Arts Alliance Illinois, and the Illinois Arts Council.
• Oversee fundraising, grant management, and financial stewardship to ensure long‑term sustainability.
• Lead, mentor, and manage staff and volunteers, fostering a collaborative and mission‑driven culture.

Required profile

• Demonstrated passion for the arts and a deep understanding of the nonprofit legal sector.
• Proven senior leadership experience in a nonprofit or legal services organization.
• Strong strategic thinking and the ability to navigate complex, rapidly changing environments.
• Excellent communication and partnership‑building skills.
