Executive Director, Finance

About the role

The UHealth Finance Department at the University of Miami is seeking an Executive Director, Finance to lead all financial activities for assigned departments. This on‑site position is based at the U‑Tower Hospital and reports directly to senior leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Direct and oversee budgeting, financial performance reporting, and productivity benchmark preparation.
• Develop and implement financial strategies that align with departmental budget parameters.
• Lead strategic long‑range and tactical planning, including economic evaluations of new programs and equipment.
• Conduct trend analyses, volume projections, and pricing sensitivity studies.
• Establish and monitor internal controls to ensure compliance with university policies, regulations, and capital budgets.
• Collaborate with other departments and external entities to drive an effective budget preparation process.
• Monitor financial targets, prepare status summaries, and provide risk assessments.
• Train, mentor, and supervise finance staff to maintain regulatory compliance and operational efficiency.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum of 8 years of relevant finance experience.
• Proven ability to align departmental goals with enterprise‑wide strategy.
• Strong financial management and resource allocation skills.
• Demonstrated adaptability and capability to lead transformational change.
• Experience building and leading high‑performing teams.
• Understanding of technology, data analytics, and performance measurement.
