Executive Director (Chief Operating Officer)

About the role

Temple Sinai, a Reform Jewish congregation serving 400+ households in the Stamford, CT area, is looking for an Executive Director to act as the chief operating officer. The Executive Director will oversee daily operations, implement the strategic vision, and ensure the organization’s mission is fulfilled.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise staff, fostering a high‑performance, collaborative culture.
• Manage all operational functions including facilities, technology infrastructure, security, and data protection.
• Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and reporting in partnership with the VP of Finance and the Board of Trustees.
• Direct human‑resources activities such as recruitment, onboarding, professional development, and compliance.
• Coordinate programming and resource utilization for the synagogue and the Early Childhood Education Center.
• Drive process improvement and adoption of modern technology to increase organizational efficiency.

Required profile

• Proven experience in senior operational leadership within a mission‑driven or non‑profit environment.
• Strong analytical, communication, and organizational abilities.
• Demonstrated capacity to engage a diverse community and build inclusive experiences.
• Hands‑on approach with a balance of strategic thinking and day‑to‑day execution.
