Executive Director - Assistant Controller

About the role

The Assistant Controller reports to the Vice President and Controller and leads the accounting and financial reporting functions for Stanford Medicine Children’s Health. This senior position oversees a broad range of accounting activities across multiple entities, ensuring accurate financial statements and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Manage accounting operations including treasury, general ledger, intercompany accounting, revenue and reimbursement, and property, plant & equipment.
• Oversee budgeting processes for shared and purchased services, capital projects, and restricted funds.
• Direct the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements, tax returns, external bond reports, and management reporting packages.
• Lead the timely and accurate close of the business cycle and implement process improvements.
• Assist the Controller in policy development, strategic planning, and long‑range financial forecasting.
• Implement new financial reporting and automation systems and ensure effective use.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to establish efficient workflows and policies.
