Executive Chef - Senior Living Dining

About the role

Monarch Communities Senior Living is hiring a full-time Executive Chef in Shrewsbury who reports to the Executive Director. The role runs the day-to-day operations of the dining department, staffing, planning and organizing nutritious, well-plated meals for residents, while developing and maintaining policies in line with local, state and federal guidelines. The salary range is $70,000 per year.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and serve quality meals, including texture-modified food for special dietary needs, and keep food service areas clean and compliant with food safety and risk management rules.
• Manage inventory, purchasing standards and vendor selection, and keep accurate records.
• Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate kitchen staff, and build a high-performing team.
• Help develop operational budgets and capital plans, and forecast expenses.
• Provide occasional weekend coverage as Manager on Duty.
• Take part in community events and in-service training, and maintain temperature logs for hot, cold, refrigerator and freezer foods.
• Promote the mission and values of senior living to residents, families and the community, and help grow occupancy.

Required profile

• College degree or certification, preferably in culinary arts, hospitality, nutrition or business.
• At least two years of culinary services administration experience, preferably in senior living.
• ServSafe certification required.
• Training and experience in cost control, food management and diet therapy.
• Able to lift or carry up to 50 lbs and perform physical duties such as standing, walking and stooping.
