Environmental Specialist – Compliance & Permitting

About the role

The Environmental Specialist will support R+L Carriers in implementing and managing environmental compliance and permitting across facilities in an assigned region. This full‑time position involves ensuring adherence to federal, state and local regulations while traveling to sites as needed.

Key responsibilities

• Review and maintain environmental compliance documentation, track corrective actions and prepare regulatory reports.
• Develop, implement and update SPCC plans, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) and other permits.
• Conduct internal environmental audits and assist during regulatory agency inspections.
• Perform SPCC and stormwater inspections, coordinate training and support spill‑response activities.
• Travel to service centers at least once per year to support audits, inspections and training.

Required profile

• Experience with Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, EPCRA and storage‑tank regulations.
• Ability to work collaboratively with site and operational personnel to drive compliance improvements.
• Strong record‑keeping and documentation skills.
• Willingness to travel within the designated region.
