Environmental Intern

About the role

Saputo, a top 10 global dairy processor, is looking for an Environmental Intern in Milwaukee. The intern supports the plant in its environmental programs, helps ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations, and prepares environmental reports.

Key responsibilities

• Assist plants in reviewing, rewriting and implementing environmental programs.
• Help ensure compliance with the Risk Management Program (RMP) / Process Safety Management Program (PSM) for the ammonia refrigeration system and other programs required by OSHA and the Corporate Safety, Health and Environment departments.
• Coordinate supplemental inspections when new processes, equipment or substances are introduced or new hazards are identified.
• Help complete plant environmental reports covering fuel use, air emissions, storm water, chemical and product spills, waste oil, light bulb recycling and other environmental waste programs.
• Verify that corrective actions for identified hazards are completed in a timely way.
• Participate in post-incident analysis and share lessons learned.
• Submit weekly status reports on projects completed during the week, and carry out other duties as requested.

Required profile

• Pursuing a bachelor's or graduate degree in an environmental or related field.
• Self-motivated, able to multi-task, work independently and as part of a team, and able to lead, influence and motivate people.
• Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
• Valid driver's licence, own vehicle and ability to travel throughout the Wisconsin area / upper Midwest.
• Willingness to work scheduled hours and required overtime.
• Reliable, honest, respectful, detail-oriented and punctual.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of computer programs such as Excel and Word (proficiency preferred).
