Environmental Engineer (Levels 1‑3) – State of Georgia

About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking motivated Environmental Engineers at three career levels (1, 2 and 3) to join the Tradeport AIR Branch in Atlanta. Under supervision, you will help design, plan and execute engineering activities that prevent, control and remediate environmental hazards.

Key responsibilities

• Collect and analyze environmental data from industrial and municipal facilities.
• Inspect sites to evaluate operational effectiveness and regulatory compliance.
• Monitor progress of environmental improvement programs and update permits, plans and SOPs.
• Prepare, review and update investigation and recommendation reports.
• Provide technical support for remediation and litigation projects.
• Review engineering plans and suggest modifications to reduce environmental impact.
• Perform engineering calculations to model contaminant flow and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Conduct field work, including occasional overnight travel.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in agricultural, chemical, civil, environmental, civil‑sanitary or mechanical engineering from an accredited institution.
• For Level 2: at least one year of professional environmental protection or sanitary engineering experience, or two years at Level 1.
• For Level 3: at least two years of professional environmental engineering experience.
