Entry-Level Engineers, Scientists, Chemists & Technicians

About the role

ERG is seeking enthusiastic entry‑level engineers, scientists, chemists and technicians to support research projects for the U.S. EPA Office of Research and Development. You will work in specialized laboratories and field settings, contributing to decontamination, measurement method development, emission characterization, atmospheric science and air‑quality modeling initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in designing, developing and testing new processes or experiments under senior guidance.
• Support preparation of technical reports, data analysis and project documentation.
• Troubleshoot, maintain, calibrate and repair laboratory and field equipment.
• Execute technical projects and collect data in collaboration with cross‑functional teams.
• Help prepare work plans, quality‑assurance project plans, health and safety plans.
• Present findings and project progress under senior supervision.

Required profile

• Recent graduate or early‑career professional with a strong technical foundation.
• Highly motivated, able to prioritize and communicate effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
• Excellent problem‑solving abilities and willingness to work across multidisciplinary teams.

Required skills

• Laboratory equipment calibration and maintenance.
• Data analysis and technical report preparation.
• Air‑quality simulation modeling.
• Knowledge of measurement method development and source emission characterization.
