Entry-Level Buyer (Procurement)

About the role

The Procurement Services department at Texas A&M University‑San Antonio is seeking an entry‑level Buyer I to support the acquisition of supplies, equipment, and routine services. Working under supervision, you will help ensure that purchasing processes are efficient, compliant, and cost‑effective.

Key responsibilities

• Procure goods and services by preparing specifications and processing requisitions.
• Secure bids, tabulate results, and award contracts for standard purchases.
• Issue purchase orders in accordance with university policies and procedures.
• Maintain accurate records of requisitions, bids, and awards.
• Return incorrect or damaged shipments and resolve related vendor inquiries.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent education/experience.
• No prior experience required; 1‑2 years of purchasing experience is preferred.
• Ability to lift moderately heavy objects.

Required skills

• Proficiency with word processing applications.
• Proficiency with spreadsheet applications.
