Entry-Level Associate Attorney (Law Clerk)

About the role

We are seeking a motivated, detail‑oriented individual to join our Lake Charles practice as an entry‑level attorney. The position begins as a law clerk for candidates awaiting Louisiana Bar admission and transitions to Associate Attorney upon successful licensure. You will work directly with Devin Fontenot, gaining substantial courtroom exposure and client interaction from day one.

Key responsibilities

• Draft pleadings, motions, memoranda, and correspondence.
• Conduct legal research and assist with discovery.
• Prepare cases for trial, including file management and deadline tracking.
• Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
• Attend hearings, mediations, and court proceedings.
• Develop litigation and client‑management skills under supervision.

Required profile

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Licensed Louisiana attorney or candidate scheduled for the July 2026 Louisiana Bar Exam.
• Strong writing and communication abilities.
• Excellent organizational and time‑management skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate within a small team.
• Interest in family law, divorce, child custody, protective orders, criminal defense, and personal injury.
• Commitment to professionalism, client service, and ethical practice.
