Entry-Level Accountant – Accounts Receivable

About the role

The Department of Administrative Services is hiring two entry‑level accountants to support the Fiscal Services Unit. You will work on accounts receivable and/or payable functions, ensuring accurate processing of payments, invoicing, and financial records in accordance with GAAP and state policies.

Key responsibilities

• Process supplier payments and high‑volume accounts payable transactions.
• Prepare and issue customer invoices, record receivable transactions and apply payments.
• Perform daily bank and account reconciliations, investigate variances and resolve discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate journal entries, supporting documentation and routine financial reports.
• Assist with collection activities and communicate billing issues with agencies and customers.

Required profile

• Understanding of accounts receivable and payable processes.
• Familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and state accounting policies.
• Ability to analyze financial information and research discrepancies.
• Attention to detail and ability to maintain confidential records.
