About the role

The Department of English at LSU is hiring full‑time Instructors to join its University Writing Program for the upcoming fall term. Instructors will teach writing and introductory general‑education courses, with a focus on rhetoric, digital composition, and professional writing.

Key responsibilities

• Teach a 4/4 course load of first‑year composition and related general‑education classes.
• Participate in a committee dedicated to developing the University Writing Program.
• Contribute to curriculum design and assessment within the department.
• Engage in departmental service and faculty meetings.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in English or a related field.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching first‑year composition.
• Interest in rhetoric, digital composition, or professional/technical/legal writing.

Required skills

• Effective classroom instruction and student mentorship.
• Curriculum development for composition courses.
