About the role
The TRIO Student Support Services department seeks an English and Writing Tutor to assist students with composition, literature, and academic writing skills. This position supports student learning and maintains a clean tutoring environment.
Key responsibilities
- Tutor students in English Composition I & II and Literature.
- Provide personalized assistance with writing, grammar, citation, and reference use.
- Support students in time management, goal setting, learning styles, Blackboard, and library resources.
- Conduct pre‑ and post‑class assessments and document individual progress.
- Maintain cleanliness of the tutor lab according to CDC guidelines.
- Record student attendance and notify supervisor of absences.
Required profile
- Bachelor's degree in education, English, or a related field (Master's preferred).
- Two or more years of college‑level teaching experience preferred.
- Experience developing curriculum preferred.
- Ability to work well with students and follow university policies.
Required skills
- Proficiency with basic computer programs applicable in a college setting.
