Engineering Technician V – FAA Technical Support

About the role

Parsons is seeking an experienced Engineering Technician V to support the Federal Aviation Administration under the Technical Support Services Contract. The role involves installing, modifying, testing, and maintaining electronic systems that keep the National Airspace System operational.

Key responsibilities

• Install, relocate, and remove navigation aids, communications, and surveillance equipment according to schematics and FAA directives.
• Troubleshoot and repair systems at unit, board, or module level using standard test equipment.
• Route, terminate, label, and test coaxial, fiber, and copper cables during field installations.
• Document maintenance activities, parts used, and test results in compliance with contract and FAA requirements.
• Support pre‑installation checks, system power‑up, alignment, and functional testing.

Required profile

• High school diploma (or equivalent) required.
• Five or more years of experience with basic analog and digital electronics and RF communications equipment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lb, perform repetitive movements, and stand for extended periods.
• Willingness to travel up to 100 % within the United States.
• Pass a federal background check and meet FAA security requirements.

Required skills

• Knowledge of basic analog and digital electronics.
• Fundamentals of RF and communications equipment.
• Proficiency with electronic test instruments (digital multimeter, oscilloscope, signal generator).
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
• Basic Microsoft Office suite, internet, and email usage.
