Engineering Technician – R&D

About the role

Applied Materials is a global leader in materials engineering solutions for semiconductor and display manufacturing. The Engineering Technician – R&D will work on complex electro‑mechanical systems, supporting design, testing, fabrication, and troubleshooting of advanced equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, test, checkout, fabricate, modify, troubleshoot, and assemble electronics and electro‑mechanical systems and prototype models.
• Perform system‑level and component‑level testing on electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, vacuum, and process equipment.
• Document test procedures, compile logbooks, and write technical reports.
• Provide technical input to improve product performance and support manufacturing processes.
• Train lower‑level technicians and may act as a Quality Lead.

Required profile

• Ability to work in physically demanding environments, including clean rooms and tight spaces.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interface across functional teams.
• Experience interpreting limited documentation and solving novel problems.
• Leadership potential to guide junior team members.
