Engineering Technician IV – R&D (1st & 2nd Shift)

About the role

The Engineering Technician IV will perform machine testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting on Ion Implanters and RF Plasma Systems in our R&D 1st and 2nd shift environment. Reporting to physicists and engineers, the technician provides expert technical support to keep equipment running efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine and preventive maintenance on semiconductor implant equipment, including cleaning, calibration, and part replacement.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions using technical manuals, diagnostic tools, and process knowledge.
• Document all maintenance activities, repairs, and adjustments in logs and databases.
• Collaborate with engineers and scientists to develop new equipment and optimize existing performance.
• Assist in setup and qualification of experimental semiconductor implant equipment.
• Participate in the site Emergency Response Team, maintaining training and responding to emergencies.

Required profile

• Associate degree or equivalent technical certification in electronics, electrical, automotive, robotics, or related field.
• 5–10 years of relevant experience with ion implanters or RF plasma systems.
• Strong problem‑solving ability, attention to detail, and capacity to work independently in a fast‑paced R&D environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Willingness to follow strict safety protocols and work various shifts as needed.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally on short notice.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with Ion Implanters.

• Proficiency reading and interpreting technical manuals and schematics.

• High‑voltage equipment handling and safety procedures.
