Engineering Technician IV – R&D (1st & 2nd Shift)

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking an Engineering Technician IV to support R&D operations on both 1st and 2nd shifts. The role involves testing, maintaining, and troubleshooting Ion Implanters and RF Plasma Systems in a fast‑paced semiconductor environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine and preventive maintenance on semiconductor implant equipment, including cleaning, calibration, and part replacement.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions using technical manuals, diagnostic tools, and process knowledge.
• Document all maintenance activities and updates in logs and databases.
• Assist engineers and scientists in developing and qualifying new experimental equipment.
• Participate in the site Emergency Response Team, maintaining certifications and responding to emergencies.

Required profile

• Associate degree or equivalent technical certification in electronics, electrical, automotive, robotics, or a related field.
• 5–10 years of relevant experience with semiconductor equipment.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and follow strict safety protocols.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally on short notice.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Ion Implanters and RF Plasma Systems.
• Proficiency reading and interpreting technical manuals and schematics.
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for high‑voltage equipment.
• Experience with preventive maintenance and equipment calibration.
