Engineering Technician IV

About the role

Applied Materials, a global leader in materials engineering solutions, is seeking an Engineering Technician IV to support the design, testing, and assembly of electro‑mechanical systems for semiconductor and display manufacturing. The position is based in Austin, TX and offers a competitive hourly rate.

Key responsibilities

• Design, test, fabricate, modify, troubleshoot, and assemble electronics and electro‑mechanical systems and prototype models.
• Perform system‑level and component‑level testing on electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and vacuum subsystems.
• Interpret schematics, diagrams, and written specifications to execute testing and troubleshooting.
• Document test procedures, compile logbooks, and assist in developing department processes.
• Maintain safety standards, report hazards, and ensure a clean, secure work environment.

Required profile

• Physically demanding work including standing, walking, bending, lifting, and operating forklifts and other heavy machinery.
• Ability to work in clean‑room environments using appropriate personal protective equipment.
• Commitment to safety training, hazard reporting, and adherence to company safety policies.

Required skills

• Electro‑mechanical system assembly and troubleshooting.
• Circuit design and prototype testing.
• Mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and vacuum testing.
• Use of hand and power tools.
• Forklift operation.
