Engineering Technician III – Design

About the role

The Road Commission for Oakland County is seeking an Engineering Technician III to support civil infrastructure design using AutoCAD tools. This full‑time position works on‑site in Beverly Hills and collaborates with surveying, IT, and project teams to ensure high‑quality deliverables.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain AutoCAD standards, templates, reference documents, and training material.
• Create, update, and train staff on AutoCAD Civil 3D workflows.
• Identify and implement efficiency techniques for AutoCAD Civil 3D users.
• Coordinate with surveying staff to manage and share surveying symbology files.
• Review plans for quality, accuracy, completeness, and compliance with standards.
• Assist in coordinating project files across departments, divisions, and consultants.
• Work with IT to manage AutoCAD licensing and software configurations.

Required profile

• High school diploma; post‑secondary education in engineering technology preferred.
• Minimum five years of technical experience in civil (road/bridge) design.
• Strong communication, planning, and organizational abilities.
• Knowledge of RCOC’s organizational structure and project priorities.
• Valid State of Michigan driver’s license.
