Engineering Technician III – 1st Shift (T3)

About the role

Applied Materials, a global leader in materials science, is seeking an Engineering Technician III (T3) for the 1st shift in Austin. The role focuses on electro‑mechanical design, testing, assembly and troubleshooting of semiconductor equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine to moderately complex electro‑mechanical tasks including design, test, checkout, fabrication, modification, troubleshooting and assembly of electronics and electro‑mechanical systems.
• Test and troubleshoot system‑level and component‑level electrical and mechanical problems, using schematics, diagrams and written instructions.
• Conduct mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, vacuum and process testing on AMAT platforms according to engineering and manufacturing specifications.
• Maintain accurate logbooks and test procedure documentation, and generate quality notifications as needed.
• Observe all safety standards, wear required clean‑room PPE, and report any hazards or incidents promptly.

Required profile

• Physically demanding work: standing for long periods, walking, bending, squatting, climbing ladders, lifting and working in tight spaces.
• Ability to work in a clean‑room environment and use appropriate personal protective equipment.
• Strong adherence to safety protocols and willingness to attend required health‑and‑safety training.
