Engineering Technician II (T2)

About the role

Applied Materials is a global leader in materials science and engineering solutions for semiconductor and display technologies. The NPC Engineering Technician II (T2) supports the design, testing, fabrication and troubleshooting of electro‑mechanical systems on our advanced manufacturing platforms in Austin.

Key responsibilities

• Design, test, checkout, fabricate, modify and assemble electronic and electro‑mechanical systems, including experimental circuitry and prototype models.
• Perform system‑level and component‑level troubleshooting of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and vacuum subsystems with minimal supervision.
• Execute mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and vacuum process testing on AMAT platforms according to engineering and manufacturing specifications.
• Document test procedures, compile logbooks, write technical reports and recommend design changes to improve product performance.
• Assist in NPI installations, field upgrades and the development of documented procedures, serving as a technical resource for specific platforms.
• Observe all safety standards, maintain a clean work environment and report any hazards promptly.

Required profile

• Advanced expertise in electro‑mechanical analysis and troubleshooting.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing and engineering processes and ability to interface across functional teams.
• Proven ability to lead or mentor junior technicians and provide technical guidance.
• Effective communication and documentation skills for reporting and procedure development.
