Engineering Technician II – (T2) 2nd Shift

About the role

Engineering Technician II (T2) on the 2nd shift at Applied Materials in Austin, TX, performing electro‑mechanical technical functions to support semiconductor equipment development and production.

Key responsibilities

• Design, test, checkout, fabricate, modify, troubleshoot, and assemble electronics and electro‑mechanical systems, including experimental circuitry and prototype models.
• Test and troubleshoot system‑level and component‑level problems in electrical and mechanical subsystems, and perform new system and NPI installations and field upgrades.
• Compile logbooks and test procedures documentation, perform mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, vacuum, and process testing on AMAT platforms per engineering specifications.
• Observe safety standards, maintain a clean work environment, and report hazards or incidents promptly.

Required profile

• Physically demanding role requiring standing, walking, working in tight spaces, lifting, and use of hand/power tools and heavy machinery such as forklifts.
• Ability to work in a clean‑room environment using appropriate PPE (coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses, gloves, respirators, etc.).
• Good analytical skills, ability to follow schematics, diagrams, and written instructions.

Required skills

• Electro‑mechanical assembly and troubleshooting.
• Electrical, pneumatic, vacuum, and process testing.
• Use of test equipment, tools, and fixtures.
• Documentation and logbook maintenance.
