Engineering Technician II

About the role

Applied Materials, a global leader in materials science and engineering solutions for semiconductor and display technologies, is seeking an Engineering Technician II in Austin, TX. The role involves performing routine to moderately complex electro‑mechanical tasks, including design, testing, fabrication, and troubleshooting of electronic and electro‑mechanical systems that support next‑generation semiconductor chips.

Key responsibilities

• Design, test, checkout, fabricate, modify, troubleshoot, and assemble electronics and electro‑mechanical systems and prototype models.
• Test and troubleshoot system‑level and component‑level electrical and mechanical problems, including NPI installations and field upgrades.
• Perform mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, vacuum, and process testing on AMAT platforms according to engineering and manufacturing specifications.
• Compile logbooks and test procedures, generate quality notifications, and document rework results.
• Observe all safety standards, maintain a clean work environment, and report hazards or incidents promptly.

Required profile

• Physically demanding work requiring standing, walking, bending, lifting, and operation of hand/power tools and heavy machinery such as forklifts.
• Ability to work in clean‑room environments and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
• Commitment to safety training, adherence to security policies, and proactive accident prevention.

Required skills

• Electro‑mechanical system assembly and troubleshooting.
• Circuit design and prototype development.
• Use of specialized test equipment and fixtures.
• Mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and vacuum testing.
• Forklift operation and hand/power‑tool proficiency.
