Engineering Technician II – 2nd Shift

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking an Engineering Technician II for the 2nd shift in Austin, TX. The role supports the design, testing, and assembly of electro‑mechanical systems used in semiconductor and display equipment. You will work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure high‑quality product delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine to moderately complex electro‑mechanical tasks including design, test, checkout, fabrication, modification, troubleshooting and assembly of electronics and electro‑mechanical systems.
• Test and troubleshoot system‑level and component‑level problems in electrical and mechanical subsystems, and execute new system installations, NPI installations and field upgrades.
• Compile logbooks and test procedures, generate quality notifications, and perform rework as required.
• Conduct mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, vacuum and process testing on AMAT platforms following engineering and manufacturing specifications.
• Observe all safety standards, maintain a clean work environment, and report safety hazards promptly.

Required profile

• Analytical mindset with ability to apply scientific methods to technical tasks.
• Understanding of how the engineering team integrates with manufacturing and other functions.
• No supervisory responsibilities; works independently within established procedures.
• Effective communication skills for documenting test results and collaborating with team members.

Required skills

• Electro‑mechanical system testing and troubleshooting.
• Circuit design, prototyping and assembly of electronic components.
• Operation of specialized test equipment, tools and fixtures.
• Mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and vacuum testing procedures.
