Engineering Manager – Payer Intelligence Platform

About the role

humatahealth is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the multidisciplinary team behind its Payer Intelligence platform, which automates end‑to‑end prior‑authorization review. You will own people, process, and technical direction across backend services, AI/ML, and frontend product work.

Key responsibilities

• Directly manage engineers across Go backend, Python AI, and Vue/TypeScript frontend disciplines.
• Drive performance cycles, goal‑setting, reviews, and improvement plans.
• Partner with recruiting to attract top talent, especially AI‑focused roles.
• Establish a culture of psychological safety, continuous feedback, and high accountability.
• Provide technical direction, set quality standards, and own reliability and cost of AI/ML pipelines.
• Champion evaluation practices, golden datasets, regression suites, and drift monitoring.
• Participate in architecture and design reviews, balancing speed, maintainability, and scalability.
• Promote engineering best practices: code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD, Terraform‑managed infrastructure, and observability.
• Own roadmap execution, coordinate cross‑project work, remove blockers, and communicate progress to stakeholders.
• Translate clinical and regulatory requirements into clear technical scope.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading and developing engineering teams in a fast‑moving environment.
• Comfortable coaching individuals and conducting performance discussions.
• Strong ability to balance technical depth with product and clinical impact.
• Experience collaborating with product, design, and clinical operations.
