Engineering Manager – Developer Experience

About the role

The Engineering Manager, Developer Platform & Developer Experience leads a high‑impact team that builds and improves internal developer platforms and tooling. This player‑coach role blends hands‑on technical contribution with people leadership, owning the roadmap and driving initiatives that boost developer productivity, experience, and efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage a small team of engineers focused on developer platform and experience.
• Conduct 1:1s, performance reviews, career development, and hiring.
• Own and prioritize the roadmap for IDP, IaC, CI/CD, observability, and AI tooling.
• Partner with architecture, engineering, and product leaders to align platform strategy with business goals.
• Communicate progress, risks, and trade‑offs to leadership and stakeholders.
• Contribute hands‑on through coding, architecture design, PR reviews, and technical guidance.
• Drive delivery of internal platform capabilities, shared tooling, and CI/CD solutions.
• Promote AI development tools and establish metrics (e.g., DORA, DX) to improve productivity.
• Lead enablement activities such as demos, office hours, and knowledge sharing.

Required profile

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• 2+ years of direct people management or equivalent technical leadership.
• Proven ability to stay hands‑on while leading a team.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and experience delivering against a technical roadmap.
• Demonstrated people‑leadership skills including coaching, performance management, and hiring.
