About the role

The G.Start program at Gerdau offers a paid, project‑focused engineering internship at a steel mill. Interns gain hands‑on experience while developing technical and managerial skills in a global steel manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Participate in engineering projects that support mill operations and continuous improvement.
  • Assist senior engineers with mechanical, electrical, and materials‑science tasks.

Required profile

  • Undergraduate entering Junior or Senior year, pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Materials Science or Metallurgy Engineering.
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5 (preferred 3.0+), with demonstrated leadership in student organizations or extracurricular activities.
  • Legally authorized to work full‑time in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication, initiative and problem‑solving abilities.

Required skills

  • Fundamental knowledge of mechanical engineering principles.
  • Fundamental knowledge of electrical engineering principles.
  • Understanding of materials science concepts.
  • Basic knowledge of metallurgy processes.
