Engineering Director – Vacuum & Wet Systems

Applied Materials, a global leader in materials engineering solutions, is seeking an Engineering Director for Vacuum & Wet Systems based in Bangalore, India. The role involves leading the design, development, and delivery of advanced semiconductor process equipment, focusing on electrochemical plating (ECP) and wet cleaning systems. The director will manage multi‑disciplinary engineering teams, drive innovation, and ensure successful transition of tools into high‑volume manufacturing.

Key responsibilities include overseeing vacuum system design, ECP and wet processing equipment development, end‑to‑end equipment architecture, integration of mechanical, fluidic, thermal and process aspects, collaboration with North American OEMs, and global program execution. The candidate must have at least 15 years of semiconductor equipment/hardware engineering experience, proven leadership of complex system design programs, and a track record of delivering full tool platforms into HVM.

Required profile: deep hands‑on experience in vacuum system design, expertise in electrochemical plating and wet cleaning equipment, strong problem‑solving in failure‑sensitive environments, experience leading cross‑functional teams, and ability to work across time zones. The role offers a salary range of $176,000–$242,000, full‑time employment, relocation assistance, travel up to 10%, and a comprehensive benefits package including bonuses and stock awards.
