Key responsibilities

• Direct technical efforts across organizational boundaries and provide authoritative guidance on complex engineering matters.
• Conduct and oversee advanced engineering analysis, design, testing, and evaluation of mission‑critical systems.
• Apply expert judgment to resolve technical problems and recommend optimal solutions.
• Advise senior leadership and program managers on technical and programmatic issues.
• Represent NASA in high‑level technical forums, inter‑agency reviews, and contractor exchanges.
• Develop and approve engineering standards, technical policies, and requirement documents.
• Author technical reports and assessments for senior decision‑making.
• Provide mentorship and discipline leadership across experience levels.
• Lead formal technical reviews and integrated product teams.

Required profile

• U.S. citizenship or allegiance to the United States.
• Eligibility to meet the Basic Education Requirement for the specific engineering series.
• Ability to obtain any required security clearance, background investigation, financial disclosure, and drug testing.
• Willingness to serve a one‑year probationary period as required by federal regulations.
• Relevant engineering experience commensurate with the GS grade level applied for.
