About the role

NASA is seeking highly qualified engineers for direct‑hire positions at Johnson Space Center and White Sands Test Facility. These roles support mission‑critical systems across a range of GS series and grade levels.

Key responsibilities

• Direct technical efforts across organizational boundaries and provide authoritative guidance on complex engineering matters.
• Conduct and oversee advanced engineering analysis, design, testing, and evaluation of mission‑critical systems.
• Apply expert judgment to resolve technical problems and recommend optimal solutions.
• Advise senior leadership and program managers on technical and programmatic issues.
• Represent NASA in high‑level technical forums, interagency reviews, and contractor exchanges.
• Develop and approve engineering standards, policies, and requirements at program or enterprise level.
• Author technical reports and assessments for senior decision‑making.
• Provide mentorship and discipline leadership across experience levels.

Required profile

• U.S. citizen, national, or individual owing allegiance to the United States.
• Must meet all qualification requirements by the announcement closing date.
• Subject to pre‑employment background investigation and possible security clearance.
• May require a one‑year probationary or supervisory probationary period as defined by Title 5 CFR Part 11.
• Willingness to work onsite at the designated NASA centers.
