Engineering Co-Op / Intern – Chopped Fiberglass

About the role

IKO Industries Ltd., a manufacturer of roofing and building materials headquartered in Chester, SC, is looking for an Engineering Co-Op / Intern in its Engineering / Maintenance department. The position is full-time, flexible (FT/PT/Cont) and focuses on chopped fiberglass materials.

Key responsibilities

• Research the properties, characteristics and applications of chopped fiberglass.
• Analyze the mechanical, thermal and chemical properties of chopped fiberglass materials.
• Develop new chopped fiberglass materials or improve existing formulations.
• Collaborate with suppliers to source high-quality chopped fiberglass and with design and production teams to improve product performance.
• Optimize product formulations and manufacturing processes for efficiency, less waste and consistent quality.
• Set up and run quality control procedures to meet industry standards.
• Maintain accurate engineering documentation and reports, and share technical information with non-technical stakeholders.

Required profile

• Junior or Senior specializing in Mechanical, Chemical, Material Science or Industrial Engineering.
• Fluent in spoken and written English.
• Authorized to work in the United States; no travel required.
• Manufacturing experience and troubleshooting ability are a plus.

Required skills

• Advanced MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat.
• Critical thinking and strong organization.
