Engineer-In-Training – Roadway

About the role

As an Engineer‑In‑Training for Roadway at Horrocks, you will support a variety of transportation projects, working closely with project managers and senior engineers to deliver accurate civil engineering designs.

Key responsibilities

• Support Project Managers and Engineers with engineering design tasks for various projects.
• Perform civil engineering design, calculations, and interpret plans from other engineering disciplines.
• Apply technical expertise on both conventional and unconventional projects.
• Conduct independent research and adapt to changing priorities.
• Adhere to Horrocks safety standards to maintain a safe work environment.
• Collaborate in a team setting to deliver error‑free work products.
• Maintain a professional attitude and act with integrity.

Required profile

• Strong sense of urgency and self‑initiative to meet client deadlines.
• Ability to prioritize multiple project requests and communicate effectively with engineers and managers.
• Proficiency in developing designs and documentation using MicroStation ORD and/or Autodesk Civil 3D.
• Experience managing project data files from various sources.
• Willingness to travel and perform occasional fieldwork.
• B.S. in Civil Engineering with EIT certification (or ability to obtain within 6‑12 months).
• 0‑4+ years of civil design experience; entry‑level candidates considered.
• Passed Fundamentals of Engineering Exam or ability to obtain EIT certification shortly after hire.
