Engineer II – Construction Estimating

About the role

Engineer II provides technical engineering and cost information to ensure construction work complies with engineering standards. The role supports job controls, drawing interpretation, and material management to keep projects on schedule and within budget.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with job controls to ensure compliance with contract, budget, schedule, forecasting and job costing.
• Interpret design drawings for craft workers and ensure specifications are followed.
• Interface with on‑site departments to resolve problems and support the overall project schedule.
• Research and recommend solutions to drawing interpretation issues, conflicts, interference and errors.
• Prepare and disseminate documentation such as status reports, punch lists, sketches, and material requirement calculations.
• Provide technical support for material controls, delivery dates, construction schedules and design requirements.
• Prepare drawings and sketches for change orders and estimates.
• Provide building control lines and elevations for accurate measurement and installation.
• Develop quantity take‑offs, material price lists, labor costs and equipment data for accurate estimates.
• Research historical data and productivity reports to create guidelines for future estimates.
• May supervise, direct, and mentor project staff.
• Represent the company in client and project management meetings.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration or a related field, or equivalent technical training and experience.
• Minimum 2 years experience in construction estimating support, engineering, field support or a similar role.
• Working knowledge of construction equipment, techniques, drawings, specifications and building materials.
• Ability to perform technical calculations and develop cost data.
