Engineer I – Process Engineering

About the role

Amgen is seeking an Engineer I to join the drug product team during the final stages of product development. The role focuses on ensuring system reliability, optimizing operations, and supporting new product introductions in a fast‑paced biotech environment.

Key responsibilities

• Support system reliability and operational optimization, identifying performance risks such as single points of failure or obsolescence.
• Lead improvement initiatives to reduce cycle time, increase efficiency, and boost yield.
• Conduct technical investigations, root‑cause analysis, and equipment troubleshooting using structured problem‑solving methods.
• Analyze data and develop engineering solutions employing Statistical Process Control, Six Sigma, and predictive‑maintenance techniques.
• Assist with new product and technology introductions, including engineering assessments, equipment modifications, and execution of engineering runs.
• Collect, organize, analyze, and present results for operational issues and small‑scope engineering projects.
• Provide onsite day‑to‑day technical support for equipment and process troubleshooting.
• Apply process‑engineering principles to design, specify, install, start‑up, and validate process equipment and systems.
• Translate user and process requirements into engineering documentation and support design development.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, cross‑functional teams, and support staff while maintaining a safe working environment.
