Engineer - Hot Gas Path Materials

About the role
The Engineer – Hot Gas Path Materials will support the development and qualification of materials used in power‑generation components such as blades, vanes and shrouds. The role combines materials selection, process monitoring, testing and data analysis to ensure performance and reliability of high‑temperature alloys.
Key responsibilities
- Support materials selection for power‑generation components (blades, vanes, shrouds).
- Monitor and analyze manufacturing processes including casting, welding and heat treatment.
- Review quality‑control inspections and non‑destructive testing results.
- Assist in root‑cause analysis of material‑related failures or defects.
- Document test results, prepare technical reports and maintain test records.
- Support new materials qualification programs and participate in process‑development projects.
- Help implement cost‑reduction initiatives while maintaining quality standards.
- Research and evaluate new materials, coatings or processing techniques.
- Collaborate with design engineers to write or revise material specifications.
- Interface with suppliers on material certifications and quality issues.
- Provide troubleshooting assistance to manufacturing teams.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s, Master’s or Ph.D. in Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering or related field, or a Mechanical Engineering degree with at least one year of relevant experience.
- Ability to access and handle US Export‑Controlled information.
- Strong understanding of materials fundamentals such as thermodynamics, phase diagrams, kinetics and mechanical behavior.
- Experience with characterization techniques (SEM, optical microscopy, XRD, mechanical testing).
- Knowledge of nickel and steel alloys, their strengthening mechanisms, and casting processes, especially investment casting.
- Familiarity with tensile, fatigue and creep testing.
- Proficiency in data analysis using Excel, statistical software and optionally Python or MATLAB.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to work independently and within cross‑functional teams.
