Engineer Development Rotation Program – Systems Engineer I (Gloucester, MA)

About the role

Applied Materials is launching its 2027 Engineer Development Rotation Program for recent graduates. As a Systems Engineer I you will join the Fusion team in Gloucester, MA, rotating through multiple engineering and manufacturing assignments to build expertise in semiconductor equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Write system‑engineering specifications related to your technical expertise.
• Participate in system‑engineering projects that combine electrical, mechanical, physics, algorithm and software design.
• Perform testing, provide feedback to product engineering and software teams, and troubleshoot field issues.
• Collaborate with System Integration during assembly and final testing of products.

Required profile

• Graduating with a BS or MS in Physics, Electrical, Mechanical, Systems Engineering or a related field.
• Good academic standing, preferably GPA > 3.0.
• Ability to solve complex problems and exercise sound judgment.
• Previous internship or related experience and demonstrated leadership.

Required skills

• System‑engineering specification writing.
• Testing and troubleshooting of hardware and software.
