Energy Engineer

About the role

Energy Sciences is hiring an Energy Engineer in its Engineering and Consulting Services department, working with commercial and industrial customers to reduce energy use through efficiency programs, training and direct-to-customer services. The workplace is hybrid, with a home-based office, travel to Michigan and use of a personal vehicle; travel is about 25%. The pay range is USD 71,711 to 92,000.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and quantify energy efficiency opportunities and perform energy and economic analyses.
• Review energy assessments, opportunities and calculations, and conduct site surveys and facility assessments.
• Collaborate with customers, answer technical questions and develop projects.
• Prepare reports and deliver presentations.
• Support customers with utility energy efficiency programs and work with other engineers to share energy engineering fundamentals.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field; non-degree professionals considered with at least five years of experience in energy assessments and commissioning/retro-commissioning.
• Preferred: CEM, CEA, CMVP, EBCP and PE certifications.
• Preferred: two years of experience in utility energy efficiency program support, retro-commissioning, new building commissioning, HVAC assessments, ASHRAE energy auditing, energy/economic analysis, BMS trending and verification, and calculating verified energy savings.
• Knowledge of building systems (HVAC, pumps, chilled water, hot water, steam, industrial processes, compressed air) and decarbonization strategies.
• Ability to work autonomously, communicate verbally and in writing, and work on-site with customers.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship; no immigration sponsorship offered.
