Energy Educator/Auditor

About the role

Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Energy Educator/Auditor leads daily business energy consultations and the Home Energy Assessment Program. The role involves conducting assessments, installing energy‑saving devices, and delivering high‑quality customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Travel to homes and businesses to perform energy assessments.
• Meet customers, complete paperwork, and record data on a handheld tablet.
• Interface with multiple databases to log energy‑saving measures and recommendations.
• Maintain accurate daily inventory of supplies.
• Document findings such as insulation levels, thermostat type, and furnace efficiency.
• Teach low‑cost conservation actions like sealing air leaks and changing filters.
• Guide customers toward additional energy‑saving programs and develop personalized action plans.

Required profile

• Training in weatherization or energy‑efficiency principles.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Comfortable working in an urban setting with diverse populations.
• Strong judgment, safety awareness, and ability to lead and motivate customers.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
• Physical ability to bend, stoop, and reach.
• Valid Michigan driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Pass criminal background check and drug screening.
• Problem‑solver who can meet fast‑paced deadlines.

Required skills

• Use of handheld data devices for field data entry.
• Basic knowledge of commercial energy audits and direct‑install measures.
