Employment Specialist – Workforce Development

About the role

The Employment Specialist supports the Workforce Development department by helping program participants secure meaningful employment. Working closely with internal staff and external partners, the specialist designs and delivers job‑search services, builds employer relationships, and tracks outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Develop job opportunities and internships for program participants.
• Establish and maintain relationships with local employers, business groups, and community organizations to generate job leads.
• Research and maintain up‑to‑date job listings and create resources for young adults to match openings with career goals.
• Answer inquiries about program eligibility, training, and placement options.
• Guide participants in completing their Individual Employment Plan within the first two weeks of intake.
• Visit employers to assess job content, work environment, and accommodation possibilities.
• Conduct workshops on interview techniques, résumé and cover‑letter writing, and professional presentation.
• Support participants throughout the application and interview process, including follow‑up with employers.
• Collect and analyze data to evaluate service effectiveness and inform program improvements.
• Utilize emerging technologies and software tools to enhance efficiency.
• Complete required case documentation and undertake special projects as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (preferred) with 5‑7 years of experience in workforce development.
• Background in sales, marketing, or job development.
• Excellent oral and written communication abilities.
• Proven skill in building and maintaining community and employer relationships.
• Strong organizational and time‑management capabilities.
• Ability to thrive under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Office 365.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
