Employment Specialist – Workforce Development

About the role

Capital Area Michigan Works! (CAMW!) is seeking an Employment Specialist to connect job seekers with employers and provide workforce development resources across Clinton, Eaton, and Ingham counties.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver customer service to visitors, employers, and job seekers in person and by phone.
• Assist users of the Pure Michigan Talent Connect website, including troubleshooting, resume and cover‑letter support, and job‑search guidance.
• Register job seekers for unemployment benefits and operate the re‑employment program for the three counties.
• Navigate federal and state databases to support client needs.
• Create and maintain the monthly workshop calendar for the Ingham American Job Center.
• Update events on the camw.org calendar and manage room reservations.
• Maintain up‑to‑date resource information for clients.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of experience in business, HR, case management, career/workforce development, or a related social‑science field.
• Bilingual ability is preferred.
• GCDF certification is a plus.
• Strong customer‑service, oral and written communication, and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work with diverse populations and manage multiple projects.
