Employment Litigation Associate – Midlevel – Los Angeles or San Francisco

About the role

Davis Wright Tremaine LLP is seeking a mid‑level associate to join its Employment practice in either Los Angeles or San Francisco. The role provides extensive client contact and hands‑on experience across a broad spectrum of complex employment litigation matters.

Key responsibilities

• Manage all phases of employment litigation in state and federal courts, including drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery documents.
• Conduct legal research, develop case strategy, and take or defend depositions.
• Participate in mediations, arbitrations, and court appearances.
• Collaborate with clients on employment counseling, risk‑management issues, and workplace investigations.
• Work closely with partners and litigation teams on high‑profile, complex matters.
• Contribute to business development and client‑relationship initiatives.

Required profile

• JD from an accredited law school and admission to practice in California.
• 3–5 years of relevant employment litigation experience, preferably handling California employment law matters.
• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical abilities.
• Excellent oral advocacy and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments in a fast‑paced environment.
• Prior experience at a law firm or sophisticated in‑house legal department is preferred.
