About the role

The Emergency Medicine Physician provides comprehensive emergency care to military members, their families, and civilians across Alaska. Working within Bassett Army Community Hospital, the physician leads the clinical response to a wide range of urgent medical conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver immediate assessment, treatment, and disposition for all emergency department patients.
• Recommend diagnostic and therapeutic procedures during clinical conferences and staff discussions.
• Oversee Emergency Medical Services (EMS) operations, including nurses, paramedics, and ambulance personnel.
• Provide consultative advice on patient care, policy, and administrative matters within the Emergency Department.
• Suggest improvements to policies, procedures, and programs to enhance departmental efficiency.
• Coordinate referrals and follow‑up care with primary care and specialty clinics.

Required profile

• Board‑certified or board‑eligible in Emergency Medicine.
• Experience managing emergency department operations and EMS teams.
• Ability to work in a military health system environment.
• Strong clinical judgment and decision‑making skills.
