Elevator Helper – NYC

About the role

Join Unitec, a leading member of the American Elevator Group, as an Elevator Helper in New York City. You will work side‑by‑side with experienced mechanics on modernization projects, ensuring tools, parts, and equipment are organized and ready for safe installation and repair.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the mechanic with routine elevator maintenance and modernization tasks.
• Transport tools, equipment, and materials to and from job sites.
• Hold, position, and secure parts during installations or repairs.
• Clean machine components such as rails and cables as directed.
• Follow all safety protocols to maintain a secure work environment.
• Help troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical and electrical issues.
• Maintain a clean and organized job site.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of hydraulics, electrical systems, engines, or HVAC.
• Elevator experience or technical military training preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and physical ability to lift 50 lb+ items.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a cargo van.
