Elementary School Teacher – Grades 1‑2

About the role

PAVE Academy Charter School is seeking a dedicated elementary teacher for grades 1‑2 in its Red Hook, Brooklyn campus for the 2026‑2027 school year. The teacher will deliver a research‑based curriculum across core subjects and contribute to a collaborative, co‑teaching environment.

Key responsibilities

• Instruct students in ELA, math, social studies, science, and character development.
• Implement PAVE’s curriculum and assessment programs.
• Collaborate with grade‑team teachers, sharing equal responsibility for student outcomes.
• Use assessments and data to inform instructional practices.
• Adapt instruction using IEPs for students with disabilities in an inclusive setting.
• Maintain regular communication with students and parents about progress.
• Complete lesson plans, progress reports, report cards, and other administrative tasks on time.

Required profile

• At least two years of classroom teaching experience with a proven record of achievement.
• New York State Teaching Certification or equivalent (Bachelor’s required, Master’s preferred).
• Experience in an urban public or charter school setting is preferred.
• Strong commitment to PAVE’s mission and belief that all students can learn.
• Ability to work collaboratively and be held accountable for quantifiable student achievement.
