Electronics Technician

About the role

Moog is seeking a Senior Electronics Technician to join its Santa Barbara Operations team. The role involves hands‑on assembly, integration, testing, and support of advanced weapon system electronics in a fast‑paced defense environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform all phases of electronic assembly, including through‑hole and SMT soldering.
• Assemble circuit cards, fabricate harnesses, cables, and control panels.
• Conduct basic mechanical fabrication and construct military‑grade cables.
• Work with high‑power, high‑voltage AC/DC circuits and controllers.
• Test, troubleshoot, and verify electronic units and in‑house test equipment.
• Interpret schematics, mechanical drawings, and manufacturing documentation.
• Coordinate with engineering, quality, purchasing, and vendors to meet program goals.
• Maintain lab safety, ESD, and quality standards.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• Formal electronics training (technical school, Class A/B military school) or at least 5 years of relevant hands‑on experience.
• Certification to J‑STD‑001 or ability to obtain it.
• Proficiency soldering small components using microscopes or vision‑enhancing tools.
• Experience with military cable manufacturing methods and requirements.
