Electronics Design Engineer I

About the role

Moog is seeking an Electronics Design Engineer I to join its Power & Data division in Johnson City, TN. You will work on the design and development of new electronic technologies, products, and processes, collaborating with internal stakeholders, customers, and vendors.

Key responsibilities

• Design electronics hardware schematics, PCB layouts, and generate Bills of Materials.
• Perform hardware integration and testing of electronic assemblies.
• Support technical project planning, including design proposals, cost estimates, schedules, and interface meetings.
• Maintain traceability between customer requirements and system specifications.
• Develop engineering test requirements and create unit, subsystem, and system test plans.
• Represent Moog professionally in all technical interactions.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
• At least 2 years of experience in electronics hardware design and development.
• Hands‑on experience designing PCB boards that incorporate microprocessors and data communication.
• Knowledge of optical system design is a plus.

Required skills

• PCB design and schematic capture.
• Bill of Materials creation.
• Hardware integration and testing.
• High‑speed digital and analog circuit design.
• Experience with Layer 2+ Ethernet switches, Ethernet PHYs, DC/DC power management, signal retimers/redrivers.
• Proficiency with FPGAs, CPLDs, and microcontrollers.
• Familiarity with communication protocols: USB, CAN, RS‑422, RS‑485, SPI, I²C, UART.
