Electrical Technician - Mat Operations

About the role

IKO Industries Ltd., a Canadian-owned manufacturer of roofing and building materials, is hiring an Electrical Technician for its Fiberglass Mat Plant in Chester, South Carolina. The role sits within the maintenance and engineering department and aims to maximize plant performance and run time through troubleshooting, adjustment, maintenance, calibration and repair of manufacturing equipment and machinery.

Key responsibilities

• Follow safety policies, programs and procedures, and complete health and safety pre-start checklists
• Keep products within quality specifications and document quality checks at regular intervals
• Operate manufacturing equipment according to established procedures
• Operate counterbalance, propane-powered forklifts
• Record production numbers and downtime causes using computerized systems and handwritten reports
• Perform general housekeeping and additional duties assigned by supervisory staff

Required profile

• Able to work flexible, rotating shifts of 8, 10 or 12 hours
• Minimum 2 years' experience in heavy-industrial manufacturing or construction preferred
• Minimum 1 year of proven forklift operating experience preferred
• Comfortable working in a dusty environment, lifting up to 50 pounds routinely, standing for long periods and working at heights and in confined spaces
• Fluent in verbal and written English, good communication skills and ability to follow detailed instructions
