Electrical Technician

About the role

Amentum is recruiting an Electrical Technician for the COMET contract at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The contract covers ground systems, flight hardware processing and launch operations supporting the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion and Launch Services programs. The position is full-time, on a hazardous testing facility, and may involve shift work, occasional weekend overtime and travel within the site.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain electrical systems on the Mobile Launcher, Launch Pad assets and Transporters.
• Maintain, repair and operate DC power, low and medium voltage power, and fire and smoke detection systems.
• Maintain, repair and operate AC facility electrical systems, including grounding and lightning protection.
• Use hand tools, power tools and lifts to build, repair, validate and maintain equipment per written instructions.
• Use precision measuring and testing equipment to diagnose, test and analyse components, assemblies or systems.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent, with technical training in the area and three years of related experience.
• Valid U.S. driver's license.
• Proven troubleshooting ability for AC and DC electrical control systems, including motors, motor controls, transformers, switchgear and electrical panels.
• Familiarity with NFPA 70E, the standard for electrical safety in the workplace.
• Experience with low-voltage (<600 volts) electrical substations and components is highly desired.
• Ability to climb stairs, walk on uneven terrain, climb ladders and platforms, and evacuate quickly in an emergency.
• Dependable, punctual, able to write and speak clearly, and willing to comply with drug-free workplace requirements; government security clearance may be required later.
