Electrical Integration & Test Engineer I (New Grad)

About the role

Shield AI is a defense-tech company developing autonomous systems such as aircraft and simulation technologies. Its Integration Test Engineering team designs custom electrical and systems test solutions for the X-BAT UAV, and this role sits within the Hardware Test team. As an Electrical Engineer, you will design and automate test systems that validate power electronics, RF communications and other electrical systems, working with PCB design, Python scripting and environmental testing.

Key responsibilities

• Design and own test systems for critical UAV electrical system tests, from concept to validation.
• Work across power electronics, RF, communications and system integration disciplines.
• Develop PCBs that interface test stands with the device-under-test.
• Build custom test fixtures combining PCBAs, test equipment and harnessing for automated, high-fidelity testing.
• Automate test sequences in Python for repeatability, efficiency and scalability.
• Take part in cross-functional design reviews and advocate for testability improvements.

Required profile

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Strong foundation in electrical, mechanical and software engineering principles.
• Experience in multidisciplinary hardware projects, such as internships, jobs, clubs, personal projects or research.
• Track record of ownership, innovation and results in complex technical environments.
• Team-first, adaptable and solution-oriented approach.
• Ability to obtain a S//SAR level security clearance is desired.

Required skills

• Preferred: Python or other scripting languages for automation.
• Preferred: PCB design tools such as Altium, KiCAD or Eagle.
• Preferred: CAD tools such as SolidWorks, NX or CATIA for mechanical fixture design.
